The young Lithuanian conductor Laurynas Sadauskas dedicates the main focus of his work to contemporary music, opera, and musical theatre, having lead productions at the Druskomanija Festival of Contemporary Music and the NOA Festival in Vilnius, where two operas were premiered under his baton.

 

Since 2015, he has been a jury member at the international competition and festival “Music without limits” in Lithuania, where he leads the festival orchestra. In 2016, Laurynas Sadauskas conducted the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra in Gdansk and in 2017, made his debut in the Vienna Musikverein with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. The current season will see him as the assistant conductor at the Lithuanian National Opera for a production of Mozart’s “Idomeneo”.

 

Laurynas Sadauskas was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1988. He started his musical education at the age of 6, playing piano. He studied orchestra and choir conducting at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art in Vilnius, conducting his first performance at the age of 18 in the Lithuanian Philharmonic Hall. In 2007, he was admitted to the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.

 

He continued his studies in Vienna at the University of Music and Performing Arts in the class of Mark Stringer, Yuji Yuasa, and Konrad Leitner. As a participant in masterclasses, he has also received valuable instruction from other renowned conductors and teachers such as Marc Albrecht and Clark Rundell.

Der junge litauische Dirigent Laurynas Sadauskas setzt in seiner Arbeit Schwerpunkte im Bereich zeitgenössische Musik und Musiktheaters. So leitete er unter anderem Produktionen im Rahmen des Druskomanija-Festivals für zeitgenössische Musik und des NOA-Festivals in Vilnius, wo er zwei Opern litauischer Komponistinnen zur Uraufführung brachte.

Seit 2015 ist er Jury-Mitglied des internationalen Wettbewerbs und Festivals „Musik ohne Grenzen“ in Litauen, sowie musikalischer Leiter des Festivalorchesters. 2016 dirigierte Laurynas Sadauskas die Polnisch-Baltische Philharmonie in Danzig. 2017 debütierte er im Wiener Musikverein mit dem ORF Radio-Sinfonieorchester Wien. In der laufenden Saison wird er unter anderem am Litauischen Nationaltheater für Oper und Ballett für eine Produktion von Mozarts „Idomeneo“ assistieren.  

 

Laurynas Sadauskas wurde 1988 in Vilnius, Litauen geboren. Seine musikalische Ausbildung begann er im Alter von 6 Jahren mit dem Klavierspiel. Er studierte Orchester- und Chordirigieren an der Nationalen M. K. Čiurlionis-Kunstschule in Vilnius, mit deren Orchester er bereits im Alter von 18 Jahren in der Litauischen Philharmonie debütierte. 2007 wurde er an der Litauischen Akademie für Musik und Theater aufgenommen.

 

2010 setzte er seine Studien in der Klasse von Prof. Mark Stringer sowie bei Yuji Yuasa und Prof. Konrad Leitner an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien fort. Wichtige musikalische Impulse erhielt er zudem im Rahmen von Meisterklassen mit Marc Albrecht und Clark Rundell.
